A criminal who wracked up jail sentences totalling 24 years after a number of drug-related offences has managed to turn his life around.

Introduced to the art of painting while behind bars, 49-year-old Kevin Devenport is now an established and professional artist.

What’s more, the ex-convict from Yorkshire now wants to help raise money for a veterans’ charity by selling limited print editions of his work in Withernsea in September, reports Hull Live.

Mr Devenport stated that although he “appreciated art”, he never thought that he could try it himself, until first being presented with the opportunity in 2010 in HMP Garth, Lancashire.
